Introduction

Brian Wood MC is a highly decorated former British Army infantry soldier, recognised for his exceptional bravery and leadership on the battlefield. He was awarded the Military Cross by the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his courageous actions under fire during the Battle of Danny Boy in Iraq — a moment that has come to symbolise resilience, duty, and heroism.

After leaving the military, Brian authored the Sunday Times Bestselling memoir Double Crossed. His story became a 90 minute BBC2 drama ‘Danny Boy’ and has since become a leading motivational speaker, inspiring audiences with powerful lessons on resilience, leadership, and overcoming adversity. His story resonates not only with those in the armed forces but with anyone striving to face challenges with strength and determination.

Alongside his professional work, Brian is a passionate advocate for veterans and their families, dedicating his time and energy to charitable causes that provide vital support and recognition. His commitment to service continues beyond the battlefield, making him a respected voice of integrity, perseverance, and hope.

A man of Honour

Brian Wood’s military career took him to some of the world’s most challenging conflict zones, including Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan. Leading soldiers on the front line, he demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership under extreme pressure.

In 2004, during the Battle of Danny Boy in Iraq, Brian’s actions earned him the Military Cross — one of Britain’s highest awards for gallantry. His bravery under fire became a defining moment in his service.

But recognition was followed by years of scrutiny. Brian found himself at the centre of the Al-Sweady Inquiry, a lengthy and harrowing legal battle in which he fought to clear his name and uphold the honour of his regiment. His determination to seek truth and justice not only reaffirmed his integrity but also highlighted the sacrifices faced by many who serve.

Behind

the Mask

I left the military battling PTSD. I hit rock bottom. But I got help — and I rebuilt myself with purpose. I now speak openly about mental health because silence kills, and real strength is found in vulnerability.
